cure-all

One day in the future, the Korean newspaper will get a Nobel Prize. The Korean newspaper has come up with so many cures for cancer! Kimchi (which also fights SARs), apples (in the morning), onions, garlic, and who knows what else.

The most recent discovery: grape juice.

Mama mun called to tell us to drink grape juice that doesn't have sugar added. And as the good son that James is, he immediately looked at Amazon.com for organic grape juice.

can i get your number?

The Mun family likes to talk. The Lee family is more reserved minus mom. The Mun family calls each other at least once a day if not every other day. The Lee family calls each other...maybe once every 2 weeks?

When we first got married, papa mun called me every day. Something very normal for the Mun family but it confused me. I wasn't sure what I was suppose to say and it was weird having a similar conversation as the previous day. They would hint to James that I should call them and as much as I meant to, I rarely did.

After 4 years though, I think they've adjusted their expectations and I think I'm getting better. Now, papa mun will call about every 3-4 days or so and I'll try and call when I remember. Usually...about every 2 weeks. -_- Nonetheless, it has been an interesting and at times awkward journey trying to balance calling the in laws so that they'll be happy and doing what is comfortable for me.

Can someone come up with Telephone Topics for people like me (and package it in a clear cube)?

#4

James and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary by going to The House in SF. The food there is delicious!
Grilled squid with tomato sauce
Deep fried salmon roll (medium)

Those were the appetizers. Main course:

Steak w/ spicy noodles

The best sea bass we've had.

James noted that this was the best restaurant he has tried given the price range. I noted that it's because the food here has an Asian theme.

After dinner, we went to an Italian bakery and had semi sweet hot chocolate, maroons, and cookies. YUM! As we finished, James said with wide eyes, "MMm~ I want Korean melon when we get home!"

Of course. Happy 4th anniversary dear Korean husband.

fruit ninja

Someone should create a program that teachings you how the cut and peel fruit (all in one long piece). It's a requirement for getting married into a Korean family, you know. OR introduce all the old style Korean families to the amazing innovation of a peeler! Haha

James was watching me cut a Korean melon (of course, better than honeydew according to James) by cutting the top and bottom, placing the bottom on a cutting board, and then shaving off the rest of the peel.

His comment, "Fail."

press play

Overall, the past month was good...finding some humor in the whole situation through this blog definitely helped to keep me sane. I'm glad that we got to spend time with our families for an extended amount of time. Papa mun mentioned this was the first time they spent a month with James since high school so I think our trip meant more to them than it did for us. But James and I are happy to be back! After being gone a month, I almost forgot how beautiful the Bay Area is. It would be really hard to trade this in for any other place.

I'm thinking of continuing the blog. But I need a new name...suggestions?

Let life resume!
